Surrounded by adjacent high-rise and old buildings within 5m away, this government-driven art theatre, Cinematheque, was resumed after the two-year pause in construction, I worked closely with my team leader to overcome challenges. The challenges include material supply, technical revisions, revision of planning application and budget negotiations. Our clear communication with contractors and partners and rigorous attention to detail were essential for the continuation of this project. My involvement in the project began from the basement reinforcement phase. I was responsible for coordinating with structural engineers, urban infrastructure headquarters, and subcontractors. This involved managing the supply of cement and beams, as well as overseeing the reinforcement disassembly plan. The theatre volumes are cantilevered off the shear wall vertical core, a structure supported by two sets of diagonal steel columns(50x50cm). These theatre facade structures, functioning as mega-girders, play a crucial role in supporting the volumes, which are 35cm thick and 4-10m deep. As the inclination and thickness of diagonal steel columns on every floor changed, my role was to redesign building design details, from theatre equipment to facade curtain walls. Another main task was precise 3D modelling with the revised structure drawings. Due to the complex form of the curved walls and ceiling, I examined the design in 3D and liaised with the engineer and partners for the design revision.
